Together in a circle of friendship, Charlestown Girl Scout Troop 71320

Welcome to our website!

Charlestown's Girl Scout Troop 71320 was officially formed to bring Scouting not to just a group of girls as a small Troop, but to form a large Troop that could include all girls wanting to be part of scouting in our town. As the first Girl Scout Troop in Charlestown in a long time we were determined to build our Troop to include more girls from the community to share this great adventure!

Moving into our 4th year now we have enjoyed many activities, such as Cookie Sales, visiting the Freedom Trail, a great day at Coco Keys waterpark, a visit with Rachael Revere (Paul Revere's 2nd wife), Adopting a soldier in Iraq, helping CMA with the Annual Patriots Day Parade and the Easter Egg Hunt 3 years in a row, snow tubing, attending Girl Scout Council meetings, presenting the colors at a Red Sox game at Fenway Park, marching in the Bunker Hill day Parade, holding our very own 1950's bowling day, visiting our local Zoo and many more trips and events all throughout the 08, 09, 10 & 2011 GS Years along with our regularly scheduled Troop Meetings where we worked on earning great Girl Scout badges by doing activities and learning new things.

In 10/11 we made blankets for the Animal Shelter, helped Toys for Tots, donated Build a Bears to Childrens Hospital, wrote our own books and got to see Orchard House - home of Louisa May Alcott, visited New York City, held a Council-wide Golfing event, learned how to cook healthy, been cabin camping, visited with the Science Guy, won 3rd place at Charlestown's Tree Festival, prepared care packages for Local Heroes and have donated Girl Scout Cookies! Marched in the CHAD and Bunker Hill Day Parades, volunteered at CMA's Touch a Truck day and their annual Easter Egg hunt. Our older girls were able to travel to Hyannis and experienec a true Cape Cod vacation adventure while some of our younger scouts plan to visit Canobie Lake.

Our Troop meetings start up every Fall, we holding traditional GS meetings and our Troop doesn't stop there we even have great fun in the summer months too with special events!

With the registration of so many girls each year we continue to grow and make a positive impact. We met and will continue to meet at the Boys & Girls Club and we can't thank the staff of the B&GC enough for letting us use their facilities! The perfect enviroment for Girl Scouting.

There are many activities in Charlestown that are offered to all children but Girl Scouting is about fun, friendship and learning the Girl Scout way! With GS our girls will grow to be strong young woman with knowledge and the leadership qualities that they may not have had the chance to develop without Girl Scouting. The Girl Scout program can change the way girls see the world and their place in it. Girls learn the importance of personal responsibility, the value of goal-setting, the spirit of teamwork, and the thrill of accomplishment.

Our Charlestown Troop focuses on completing the activities as laid out in the Girl Scout guides while incorporating local activities to help the girls become more aware of their community. We are lucky to have such a wonderful group of girls as members of our Troop and look forward to the future with them and other girls that would like to join as Scouts.

It's a great program and as a parent myself of one of our current Cadette Girl Scouts I believe that it will make a difference in not only my daughters life, but your daughters life as well.

Thank you for visiting our website and please, should you have any questions or suggestions our contact page is always available as we love to hear from friends of our Scouts.

It's a Girls Life, Lead it!

Yours in Scouting,

Girls also learn about building character and self-esteem and serving their communities. Through scouting, girls learn new skills like CPR and first aid, arts and crafts, and music and drama. Girls have the opportunity to visit many new places, meet new people and try new things.
